School of Radiography

MVCC's Radiologic Technology program prepares students to transfer with full junior-level status to a four-year institution in a related field of study, or to secure employment in the radiology field. The program also prepares students for state licensing examinations.

Due to a change in requirements by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, (AART) Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare's School of Radiography will no longer be accepting applications.

Students are now required to have an associate's degree in order to obtain licensure. Mohawk Valley Community College will be offering an Associate Degree program in Radiologic Technology to fullfill this requirement. Learn more about MVCC's program here.

Requirement for New School of Radiography Applicants

The students applying for the 2013 class and thereaftermust have earned a minimum of an associate’s degree or have successfully completed a year of transfer credit from Mohawk Valley Community College or Herkimer County Community College before being accepted into Faxton-St. Luke’s School of Medical Radiography. We currently have a 1 + 2 articulation agreement with the two local community colleges which provides the appropriate degree plan to fulfill this requirement.

If an applicant possesses an associate’s or advanced degree in any discipline, it is a requirement to complete A&P I & II w/Lab and Medical Terminology in addition to their existing degree and maintain a grade of “C” or above.

The new ARRT regulation states that candidates applying for radiography certification beginning Jan. 1, 2015, must have earned an associate degree, baccalaureate degree or graduate degree from an institution accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
